Terms of service
Last updated Jul 24, 2026
These terms govern your use of Kanjō, the household budgeting service available at kanjo.sg and through the Kanjō iOS app. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. Questions go to support@kanjo.sg.
The service
Kanjō lets you record expenses and income, set budgets, share selected categories with other users, scan receipts, and import bank statements. Kanjō is a record-keeping tool: it does not connect to your bank, move money, or provide financial, tax, or investment advice.
Your account
You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age in your country) to use the service. Tell us promptly at support@kanjo.sg if you believe your account has been compromised.
Your content
The ledger entries, receipt images, and statement files you add remain yours. You grant us the limited rights needed to store, process, and display that content in order to run the service — including sending receipts and statements to our AI provider for extraction, and showing expenses in shared categories to the people you have shared them with. Only upload documents you have the right to use.
Sharing
When you share a category, the expenses in it are visible to the people you invited for as long as the share is active. Ending a share stops future visibility but cannot un-see what others already viewed. You are responsible for choosing what you share and with whom.
AI-extracted data
Receipt scanning and statement import use AI models to read documents. Extraction can be wrong or incomplete — amounts, dates, and merchants may be misread. Extracted data is presented for your review, and you are responsible for verifying it before relying on it. Kanjō's totals and reports are only as accurate as the entries in your ledger.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service to break the law or to store unlawful content.
- Do not attempt to access other users' data or probe the service's security.
- Do not resell, scrape, or overload the service, or reverse engineer it except where the law permits.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
Paid features
Some features may require a paid subscription, purchased through the App Store on iOS. Pricing and billing terms are shown at the point of purchase; App Store purchases are additionally governed by Apple's terms, and refunds for them are handled by Apple.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available and your data intact, but the service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features; if we discontinue the service entirely we will give reasonable notice so you can export your data.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses arising from inaccurate entries or extraction results, unauthorized account access caused by your failure to secure credentials, or events outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Termination
You can stop using Kanjō and delete your account at any time from the app. We may terminate or suspend access for breach of these terms, with notice where practicable.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes we will update this page and note the new date above. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
